RMTS Foundation Awards 14 Grants

The Rossway Swan Foundation is committed to assisting in the technological development of charitable organizations benefitting the Indian River County community. The members of Rossway Swan established the Rossway Swan Foundation and fund it with contributions from the Firm’s profits. In this way, the Foundation becomes a partner in the Firm’s success, as well as benefits the interests of the local community. The Foundation conducts a review of numerous applications and provides financial grants to qualifying charities. This year, the Foundation provided 14 generous computer hardware, software, and technology grants to the following organizations.

 

Alzheimer & Parkinson Association of Indian River County
The Rossway Swan Foundation offered a financial grant toward the purchase of a new server. The server will enhance the current database and will allow for more efficient use of the existing software. The organization is committed to assisting members of the community who are afflicted with disorders which affect memory and movement.

Childcare Resources of Indian River
Childcare Resources of Indian River received a grant from the Foundation to purchase a computer printer. The organization currently operates with one copier/printer; an additional printer will aid in the educational advancement of children in early childhood. Since 1994, Childcare Resources has assisted over 1,200 at-risk children of financially challenged families prepare for kindergarten and beyond.

Grace Way Village
Grace Way Village is a need-based organization devoted to the improvement and advancement of members of the community. The Rossway Swan Foundation extended a grant for a new computer to assist with résumé building, researching, and mastering computer skills. A new computer will assist clients in pursuing job opportunities which will enable them in their quest to improve their lives.

Homeless Family Center
The Homeless Family Center’s purpose is to provide opportunities for homeless families and end homelessness by achieving self-sufficiency through education, living wages, and permanent housing. The organization is in need of upgraded fundraising software which will interface with current operating systems. The Foundation offered a financial grant toward the purchase of these necessary software upgrades.

The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County
The Humane Society, which targets its efforts toward the protection and adoption of animals, received a financial grant from the Foundation to upgrade its existing computer server. The current server is outdated and is near capacity; an upgrade is critical for file maintenance and animal microchip identification records.

Public Guardianship Program of Indian River County
The Public Guardianship Program is a start-up program which provides specialized protective services of guardianship on a non-sectarian basis to persons adjudicated incapacitated. The program is in need of a computer and complementing peripherals. The Foundation presented a grant to the Public Guardianship Program for a new laptop computer which will aid in the preparation of documents, reports, and operational activities.

Riverside Theatre
Riverside Theatre is committed to providing the total theatre arts experience to both children and adults on the Treasure Coast. The organization is in need of an upgraded internet connection to assist in data access, financial records, communications, theatre production, and organizational management. Riverside Theatre was presented with a financial grant toward the upgrade and installation of the new equipment.

Sebastian River High School Band Boosters
The Sebastian River High School Band Boosters is comprised of parents who volunteer their time and efforts toward the financial and physical support of the Sebastian River High School Band. Currently, the band records are maintained by the parent-volunteer Treasurer’s personal laptop and transferred from one parent to another, year after year. The organization requests equipment which will be dedicated to the boosters to ensure records security and file integrity. The Foundation is granting a portable device, either laptop or iPad, to the boosters to fulfill their request and assist the band.

Senior Resource Center

The Senior Resource Center, which provides activities, education, and services for the benefit of seniors in our community, is in need of additional computers for their members. The Foundation has provided a grant for a new computer for their Vero Beach Schumann Hall Center which will help meet the demands of the 740 registered center members.

St. Sebastian Conference of St. Vincent De Paul
The Society of St. Vincent De Paul provides emergency assistance to patients and it was able to aid over 1,000 families in 2011. The society requested a new computer to keep up with their marketing strategies and increase their visibility in the community. The Foundation provided a financial grant to apply toward the purchase of equipment which will facilitate their functions and meet their needs.

Substance Awareness Council of Indian River County
The Substance Awareness Council is Indian River County’s primary agency for providing substance abuse prevention and treatment. The Foundation offered a financial grant toward the purchase of new computer equipment which will replace their outdated equipment. The purchase of new equipment will reduce repair costs and equipment failure, and ultimately allocate more of the Council’s funding to their programs and initiatives.


Samaritan Center for Homeless Families
Sun Up Center
The Sun Up Center assists individuals who suffer from verbal impairments and speech difficulties. The Center is seeking technological assistance to purchase additional augmentative communication devices which will enable individuals to communicate effectively with each other and with members of the community. The Foundation is committing a grant for two communication devices to The Sun Up Center for the purpose of enhancing the capabilities of people afflicted with such difficulties.

The Samaritan Center provides long term transitional housing and guidance to homeless families and prepares them to live independently. The Center is in need of educational software for their Children’s program and an all-in-one printer for their Administrative office. The Foundation is offering a grant to the center to purchase the requested academic software and the all-in-one printer which will enrich their efforts and goals.


Vero Heritage is dedicated to the historic preservation of Indian River County. The Foundation offered a grant for new computer equipment which will allow the organization to replace their outdated equipment and enhance the preservation efforts of Vero Heritage.

The Firm’s technology consultant, Technology Partners Consulting, Inc., has collaborated with the Foundation to donate in-kind services such as set-up, installation, and technological expertise. The Firm extends their appreciation to Eric Price of Technology Partners Consulting, Inc. for his generous donation of his personal time and talent.
