Crime Stoppers of the Treasure Coast held their annual Awards Banquet at the Pelican Yacht Club on Wednesday, May 15.  While honoring Treasure Coast’s law enforcement agencies for the remarkable services they perform, Crime Stoppers also paid a special tribute to Judge Eddie Swan who passed away this past year.

“We are honored to have our father, Eddie Swan, recognized for his dedication and work for Crime Stoppers” expressed son Mike Swan a partner in Rossway Swan.  “His legal career spanned over 60 years and he loved serving the state of Florida, Miami-Dade, and the Treasure Coast. One of his most endearing passions was his work in bringing public awareness to stopping crime through Crime Stoppers of the Treasure Coast.  It was near and dear to his heart and he was very proud of being instrumental in getting legislation passed which allowed Crime Stoppers to receive funds from fines assessed by the criminal court. This is a remarkable program and my father’s legacy will live on in the wonderful work done by Crime Stoppers.”

During his career Eddie Swan was Judge Advocate, Assistant Attorney General for the State of Florida, Assistant County Solicitor for Dade County, Assistant State Attorney for Dade County, Grand Jury Legal Advisor, Dade County State Attorney’s Office, US Commissioner in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida, in private practice in Dade County with his son Michael at Swan Sheppard Swan, and later served Of Counsel with the Vero Beach law firm of Rossway Swan.

Mike Swan concludes, “My father was active in and a leader in numerous organizations and honored for his tireless efforts and his extensive community involvement; no doubt his greatest passion being his work with Crime Stoppers.”
