Blake Smith joined the Firm in 2013 and practices in the areas of probate, guardianship, and mental health. Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Mr. Smith worked as an Assistant Public Defender in St. Lucie and Indian River counties from 2008 to 2013 to start his legal career. It was this experience that helped Mr. Smith develop an interest in mental health and the interplay with our legal system. At the Public Defender’s Office Mr. Smith gained extensive jury selection and trial experience and was noted for the first successful motion to dismiss for a felony charge in Indian River County under Florida’s Stand your Ground law.
Blake attended the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee where he earned his Bachelor’s degree. Upon graduation, Mr. Smith attended the Florida Coastal School of Law and received his Juris Doctor degree.
Mr. Smith embodies the Firm’s commitment to community service through his work with Lawyers in the Classroom and as a Board member of the Indian River County Bar.
